**Kannur, November 15, 2024:** P. Sasi, the political secretary to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, has filed criminal defamation suits against MLA P.V. Anvar in Thalassery and Kannur First Class Magistrate Courts. This action comes after Anvar made several serious allegations against Sasi, including claims of involvement in gold smuggling and links to the RSS.

Sasi’s legal notice, issued on October 3, demanded a retraction and public apology from Anvar, who failed to respond. Anvar had publicly made the allegations through press conferences, public events, and a letter addressed to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) State Secretary, M.V. Govindan, which was widely shared on social media.

Sasi, represented by Advocate K. Viswan, has dismissed Anvar’s accusations as baseless and defamatory. The petition filed in Kannur specifically targets allegations linking Sasi to the death of former Kannur Additional District Magistrate (ADM) K. Naveen Babu and controversies surrounding senior CPI(M) leader E.P. Jayarajan’s autobiography. The Thalassery petition addresses other claims made by Anvar.

Following the filing of the case, Sasi alleged that “underworld elements” were behind Anvar’s actions and that the “ultimate target is the Chief Minister.” He declared his intention to clear his name against what he called “unfounded and politically motivated accusations.”

This marks Sasi’s first public response to Anvar’s allegations and sets the stage for a legal battle between the two figures within the CPI(M).
