Sat Nov 09 10:59:27 UTC 2024: ## Israeli Strikes Kill 13 in Gaza, First Aid Reaches North

**Gaza City, November 9, 2024:** Two separate Israeli airstrikes killed at least 13 Palestinians in Gaza on Saturday, including women and children, according to Palestinian medical officials. The strikes targeted a school-turned-shelter in Gaza City and a tent camp in Khan Younis, where displaced people were sheltering.

The Israeli army claimed the strike on the school targeted a Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant, but provided no evidence. The army has not yet commented on the strike in Khan Younis.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military body responsible for humanitarian aid in Gaza, COGAT, announced the first delivery of aid to the war-battered northern Gaza in weeks. Eleven trucks carrying food, water, and medical equipment reached the area, including the Jabaliya refugee camp. This follows a US deadline demanding improved aid deliveries across Gaza, as experts warn of an imminent famine in parts of northern Gaza.

The Israeli offensive has focused on Jabaliya, where Israel claims Hamas has regrouped, and other areas like Beit Lahiya and Beit Hanoun. Tens of thousands of Palestinians remain trapped in these areas, with the Gaza Health Ministry reporting no ambulances or emergency crews operating north of Gaza City.

Since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war, the Israeli army has targeted numerous schools and tent camps, despite accusations of using civilian infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, and UN facilities, as cover for military operations. This has been a recurring point of contention throughout the conflict.

The latest incidents highlight the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with 90% of the population displaced and the northern areas facing critical shortages. While aid deliveries have resumed to the north, concerns remain over the ongoing violence and the dire conditions faced by the civilian population.
