**LONDON** – The UK’s Conservative Party has chosen right-wing politician Kemi Badenoch as its new leader, following a three-month contest and a bruising defeat in the recent general election. Badenoch, a staunch supporter of Brexit and known for her outspoken views, secured the top job with 53,806 votes, defeating Robert Jenrick who received 41,388.

Badenoch’s victory marks a significant shift to the right for the Conservative Party, suggesting a more hardline approach to immigration, climate change, and social issues.
