**Chennai, India** – Cricket legend MS Dhoni has all but confirmed his return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the 2025 season. During an event, Dhoni expressed his desire to “enjoy the last few years of cricket” and emphasized his commitment to staying fit for the tournament. “I want to enjoy the game for the next few years,” he said, hinting at his intent to continue playing.

CSK’s CEO, Kasi Viswanathan, has also confirmed their happiness with Dhoni’s decision. “When he is ready, what else (do) we want. We are happy,” he stated, hinting at a positive response to Dhoni’s potential return.

The franchise is now expected to finalize their retention list, with a call to owner N Srinivasan expected soon. While skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was initially assumed to be the top retention pick, it has been reported that all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will likely be the first player on the list. Jadeja, who retired from T20 internationals following India’s World Cup win this year, is seen as a crucial asset for the team. Gaikwad will be retained as the second choice, followed by pacer Matheesha Pathirana in third place. The franchise is also likely to retain two players from Shivam Dube, Devon Conway, and Samir Rizvi.
