**LOS ANGELES** – A surprise guest slithered into the Los Angeles Dodgers’ dugout during Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Monday. The snake, which appeared in the top of the fifth inning, briefly disrupted the game but was quickly removed by a member of the grounds crew.
Despite hopes for a rally snake, the Dodgers’ comeback effort ultimately fell short, losing 7-3 to the New York Mets. The snake, while causing amusement, didn’t replicate the success of the rally goose that landed on the field during a 2022 game.
“I was hoping it was a rally snake and we turned a rally around right after that,” said Los Angeles reliever Brent Honeywell. “But just something to get the boys moving a little different.”
Fox play-by-play commentator Joe Davis joked, “We’ve had ‘Snakes on a Plane’, ‘Snakes on a Train’ and the latest Hollywood hit: ‘Snake in the Dugout.'”
The Dodgers will look to even the series in Game 3 on Tuesday.
