Sूरतgarh, India – A grand procession was held on Wednesday evening in Suratgarh to mark the eve of Valmiki Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the revered sage. The procession, organized by the Indian Valmiki Dharma Samaj, featured elaborate floats depicting Lord Valmiki, along with other Hindu deities.

The procession began at Valmiki Chowk, with the sound of traditional instruments and devotional songs. It passed through several major locations, including the Railway Overbridge, Basant Vihar Colony, the old bus stand, Maharana Pratap Chowk, Bikaner Road, and the Tehsil Chowk, before culminating at the Valmiki temple. The celebrations included colorful fireworks and firecrackers.

A highlight of the procession was a conscious effigy of Lord Valmiki mounted on a hydraulic machine. Another captivating feature was a float showcasing daughters, representing the power of women, riding on horses. The procession also included attractive floats depicting Luv-Kush, Hanuman, Shiva Darbar, Naval Sahib, and Shiva Tandav.

Hundreds of men, women, youth, and children from the Valmiki community participated in the procession, chanting in praise of Lord Valmiki. Residents of Suratgarh greeted the procession with showers of flowers.

The Valmiki Samaj committee informed that a community feast (langar) and devotional singing (bhajan-kirtan) will be held at the Valmiki Temple on Thursday.
