Wed Oct 16 19:04:25 UTC 2024: ## India and Canada on the Brink of Diplomatic Crisis: Expulsion of Diplomats and Accusations of Murder Conspiracy

**New Delhi, October 15, 2024:** India and Canada are locked in a bitter diplomatic row following the expulsion of six Canadian diplomats and the recall of Indian embassy staff from Canada. This escalation comes after Canada accused India of involvement in the murder of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was killed in Canada in June 2023.

Canada claims to have intercepted communications linking India’s Home Minister Amit Shah directly to the investigation. According to Canadian officials, the diplomats were involved in gathering information about Khalistani extremists for India’s intelligence agency, RAW.

The Washington Post reported that the Canadian government believes Nijjar’s murder was part of a wider conspiracy orchestrated by India’s top officials and RAW. A senior Canadian official stated, “We know these individuals are involved in Nijjar’s murder, other murders, and the ongoing violence in Canada.”

Canada’s Foreign Minister Melanie Joly accused the expelled diplomats of participating in “targeted killings” of Canadian citizens and alleged that India has not cooperated with the investigation. Canada has also confirmed a secret meeting between its NSA and Ajit Doval in Singapore, where evidence against Amit Shah was presented.

India has condemned the accusations as baseless and politically motivated. The government has maintained that the diplomats were expelled for engaging in activities detrimental to India’s security.

The expulsion of diplomats and the allegations against Amit Shah have further strained relations between the two countries. The situation remains tense, with both nations engaged in a war of words. This diplomatic fallout raises concerns about the future of India-Canada relations and the potential for wider regional instability.
