Wed Oct 16 08:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Utah’s Rising Out For Season, Freshman Wilson Takes Over

**SALT LAKE CITY** – Utah Utes quarterback Cam Rising is out for the remainder of the 2024 season after suffering a lower leg injury in Friday’s loss to Arizona State. Head coach Kyle Whittingham confirmed the news on Monday, stating that true freshman Isaac Wilson will take over as starter.

Rising, a seventh-year senior, sustained the injury early in the game while being tackled. Despite playing through the pain, he struggled with mobility and accuracy, finishing the game with a 43% completion rate and three interceptions.

This marks the second significant injury for Rising this season. He previously missed three games due to a throwing hand injury and sat out all of 2023 following a major knee injury suffered in the Rose Bowl.

“Cam has been both a great player and leader for our program, and he will obviously be missed,” said Whittingham in a statement. “Any future developments concerning his collegiate eligibility will be addressed at a later date.”

Wilson, the younger brother of Denver Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson, already filled in for Rising earlier this season, posting a 2-1 record with 726 passing yards, five touchdowns, and five interceptions.

“We feel like the quarterback position is stable. We just don’t have Cam,” Whittingham said. He added that an eighth season for Rising could be considered if he applies for a medical waiver after the season.

With Rising sidelined, the Utes will look to Wilson to lead the offense and keep their playoff hopes alive.
