**New Delhi:** The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 player retention and auction is shaping up to be a thrilling affair, with the emergence of two young Indian talents, Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy, expected to command significant attention.

Yadav, a speedster known for bowling at a blistering 150 kph (93 mph), has turned heads with his impressive performances, most notably with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in this year’s IPL. Meanwhile, Reddy, a powerful all-rounder, showcased his batting prowess with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, particularly his memorable 76 runs off 42 balls against the Rajasthan Royals, featuring eight monstrous sixes.

Both players’ recent international debuts for India, following their impressive IPL performances, have elevated their value significantly. They are now considered capped players, making them eligible for retention and likely to attract substantial bids during the auction.

The IPL’s new retention rules allow franchises to retain a maximum of six players, with the ability to retain five capped players and two uncapped players. The new rules also stipulate that any player who represents their country in international matches before October 31st will be considered a capped player.

With a minimum retention price of ₹4 crore for capped players, and the auction purse increasing to ₹120 crore, Yadav and Reddy are poised to become major assets in the IPL 2025 player market. The deadline for franchises to submit their final list of retained players is October 31st, 2024.
