Sun Oct 06 12:53:00 UTC 2024: ## Zomato Founder Deepinder Goyal Exits Shark Tank Ahead of Swiggy’s IPO

**New Delhi:** Zomato founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal will not be appearing on the upcoming season of the popular reality show “Shark Tank India.” Goyal, who was a popular shark on the show’s third season, claims he was “kicked out” due to a sponsorship deal between Swiggy and the show.

Goyal stated that he felt morally obligated to participate in the show to promote a different narrative about startups and change how people perceive them. However, he was unable to return for the fourth season due to a demand from Swiggy, the show’s sponsor, to remove him from the panel.

This decision comes at a crucial time for Swiggy, which is gearing up for its upcoming initial public offering (IPO). The company has recently received shareholder approval to increase the IPO size from Rs 3,750 crore to Rs 5,000 crore.

Swiggy is also expanding its services, including the launch of its 10-minute delivery service, “Bolt,” in select cities. This new service aims to deliver popular quick-to-prepare meals from restaurants within a 2-kilometer radius.

Additionally, Swiggy has launched its “XL” service in response to the increased demand for bulk orders during India’s upcoming festival season.

While Swiggy’s growth strategies continue, the removal of Zomato’s founder from “Shark Tank” raises questions about the dynamics between India’s major food delivery companies and their relationship with popular media platforms.
