**MANILA, PHILIPPINES** – The United States has no immediate plans to withdraw a mid-range missile system deployed in the Philippines, despite strong objections from China, according to sources familiar with the matter. The Typhon system, capable of striking Chinese targets with cruise missiles, was initially deployed for joint exercises earlier this year but has remained in the country.
