**New Delhi, India** – Oberoi Hotels, one of India’s leading hospitality brands, has announced its ambitious plans to expand both internationally and within India. The company, owned by EIH Ltd, will open a new Oberoi Hotel in London by March 2028, marking its first foray into the UK market.
To facilitate this expansion, EIH will establish a new entity in the UK with an authorized share capital of £30m ($39.63m), holding a 51% stake. This follows a joint venture agreement announced last August with Reliance Industries (RIL), which holds an 18% stake in EIH, to manage three properties, including one in the UK.
Oberoi’s entry into the UK is a significant move for Indian hospitality brands in London, where the Taj Group currently operates two hotels. The Hinduja Group has also made its mark in the city’s luxury hotel market by transforming Winston Churchill’s former Old War Office.
Meanwhile, Oberoi Hotels is also expanding its presence in India, acquiring a 51% stake in Pune-based Muttha Towers II Pvt Ltd for Rs 254 crore. This investment will support the development of a mixed-use project in Pune, comprising a Trident Hotel and a commercial complex, with a total project cost of Rs 972 crore. The hotel is expected to be operational in Q1 of FY 2029-30, while the commercial complex is expected to commence operations in Q1 of FY 2029-30.
These expansions highlight Oberoi’s strategy to strengthen its position both domestically and internationally, targeting key markets like London and expanding its offerings in key Indian cities.
