**Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – September 20, 2024** – After a five-year wait, the sixth-generation Subaru Outback has finally made its debut in Malaysia. While the rest of the world received the facelifted model in 2019, Malaysia is getting the pre-facelift version, mirroring the versions sold in Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Japan.
Two variants are available: the top-of-the-line Outback 2.4 XT Touring EyeSight and the Outback 2.5i-T EyeSight. Priced at RM310,390 and RM280,390 respectively (on-the-road without insurance), the Outback offers both turbocharged and naturally aspirated powertrain options.
The XT Touring EyeSight variant boasts a 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer engine, delivering 249 PS (246 hp) and 350 Nm of torque, mated to a Lineartronic CVT gearbox and Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. This powerful combination propels the Outback from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 221 km/h.
The 2.5i-T EyeSight variant utilizes a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine, generating 188 PS (185 hp) and 245 Nm of torque. Despite the different engine, both variants share the same drivetrain and are equipped with Subaru’s SGP (Subaru Global Platform) for enhanced safety, dynamics, and NVH.
The Outback measures 4,870 mm long, 1,875 mm wide, and 1,675 mm tall, with a 2,745 mm wheelbase. Its 213 mm ground clearance and dual-function X-Mode make it capable of tackling off-road challenges.
The Outback comes standard with Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-Drive), offering Sport and Intelligent drive modes. Visually, the Outback features a hexagonal grille, angular LED headlights, black body cladding, and front and rear fog lamps. The XT variant is distinguished by its dual exhaust tips, six-element front LED fog lamps, and a unique tailgate badge.
Inside, the Outback features a modern cabin with an 11.6-inch central infotainment touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, an 11-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, Nappa leather upholstery, powered front seats, an electric sunroof, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and start, reclining rear seats, a hands-free powered tailgate, and a driver monitoring system.
The Outback is also equipped with EyeSight 4.0 driver assistance systems, including Autonomous Emergency Steering, Adaptive Cruise Control with lane centring, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Departure Prevention, Pre-Collision Braking, Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection, and High Beam Assist.
The Outback is fully imported (CBU) from Japan and will be available at Subaru dealerships nationwide.
