Fri Sep 20 16:15:00 UTC 2024: ## Aussie Batsman Travis Head Breaks Records, Humiliates Rohit Sharma in England ODI

**Nottingham, England:** Travis Head continued his brilliant form, smashing a match-winning 154* off just 129 balls to lead Australia to a comfortable victory against England in the first ODI at Trent Bridge. The knock, his highest ODI score, broke multiple records, including one belonging to Indian captain Rohit Sharma, a player Head playfully labelled “the unluckiest man in the world”.

Head’s innings included 20 boundaries and five sixes, powering Australia to a successful chase of 315 runs. He eclipsed Sharma’s record for the highest individual score in a successful run chase at Trent Bridge, surpassing the Indian captain’s unbeaten 137 from 2018.

This isn’t the first time Head has broken Sharma’s records. During the 2023 ODI World Cup, Head, in his debut tournament, smashed a century in just 59 balls against New Zealand, breaking Sharma’s record for the fastest World Cup century by an opener. Interestingly, Head went on to score another century in the World Cup final against India, helping Australia secure their sixth World Cup title.

In a humorous turn of events, Head labelled Sharma “the unluckiest man in the world” after breaking his fastest World Cup century record and after Australia’s World Cup win. Now, Head has added another record to his collection, once again at the expense of the Indian captain.

Head’s heroics weren’t limited to the Trent Bridge victory. He also surpassed Shane Watson’s 11-year-old record, becoming the highest-scoring Australian on English soil in an ODI.

Earlier, England, after winning the toss, looked set for a massive total before a strong comeback from the Australian bowlers, including Marnus Labuschagne and Head himself, limited them to 315 runs.

Australia, despite losing captain Mitchell Marsh early, steadied the ship through Head and Steve Smith. While Smith’s wicket brought about a brief moment of anxiety, Head, along with Labuschagne, remained unfazed, ensuring a comfortable victory for Australia.
