Fri Sep 20 16:51:44 UTC 2024: ## Tirumala Temple Laddu Prasadam Found to Contain Foreign Fats: Report
**Vijayawada, September 20, 2024** – A recent analysis report by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) has revealed the presence of foreign fats in the ghee used by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in the preparation of ritual offerings and Laddu Prasadam.
The report, issued by the NDDB’s Centre for Analysis and Learning in Livestock and Food (CALF) in Anand, Gujarat, identified fish oil, beef tallow, and lard as the foreign fats present in the ghee. These findings come after an analysis of five “S-values”, which are mathematical equations used to determine the integrity of milk fat in dairy products. All five S-values fell outside the prescribed limits, indicating the presence of these foreign fats.
The report also identified the presence of other fats, including soybean, olive, sunflower, rapeseed, linseed, wheat and maize germ, cotton seed, coconut, and palm kernel fat.
The CALF issued its report to the TTD’s Water and Food Analysis Laboratory in July 2024.
This revelation follows a controversial claim by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who alleged at a meeting of NDA MLAs, MPs, and MLCs on September 18 that animal fat was used instead of ghee in the preparation of Prasadam at the Tirumala temple between 2019 and 2024, when the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) was in power.
YSRCP MP and former TTD Trust Board chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy challenged Mr. Naidu to prove his allegations, threatening legal action if he failed to do so.
The findings of the NDDB report are likely to intensify the ongoing political controversy surrounding the issue.
