Fri Sep 20 16:53:17 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka to Test Prasada at Major Temples, Only KMF Ghee Allowed Amid Tirupati Row

**Bengaluru, September 20:** In the wake of controversy surrounding the alleged use of animal fat in prasada at Tirupati temple, the Karnataka government has announced stringent measures for prasada offered at major temples within the state.

Karnataka Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy declared on Friday that all prasada will be tested for quality and only Nandini ghee, supplied by the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), will be used for its preparation. A circular to this effect will be issued to all major temples in the state, mandating the use of KMF ghee.

This move comes after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu alleged the use of substandard ingredients, including animal fat, in the preparation of Tirupati laddus during the previous YSRCP government.

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy refuted these allegations, stating that the TDP is politicising the issue. He clarified that the tender process for suppliers is conducted every six months, with stringent quality checks in place.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister JP Nadda has sought a full report on the issue from CM Naidu and promised a thorough investigation, assuring that suitable action will be taken based on food safety standards.
