Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli will host its second Grand Prix in a row this weekend, replacing the cancelled Kazakhstan round. This unusual situation presents a unique opportunity for teams to gather valuable data and refine their bikes’ settings.
MotoGP riders have already spent seven days at the circuit in just over two weeks, including the official test held on Monday, September 9th. With high attendance expected, the event offers Italian fans a chance to cheer on their heroes – six of the 24 MotoGP competitors are Italian.
The race also marks the start of a triple-header, the first of two in a highly intensive period of the season. After the Emilia-Romagna GP, riders will be heading across the globe to Lombok, Indonesia, for the next round.
The spotlight falls on Jorge Martin, who seeks to prove a point after his gamble in the previous Misano race didn’t pay off. He’s aiming for a win on home turf, hoping to secure a valuable victory for his Italian team.
Pecco Bagnaia, meanwhile, will be celebrating his 100th MotoGP start and aiming for a historic Ducati victory on home ground. The reigning World Champion seeks to add another milestone to his career by securing Ducati’s 100th MotoGP win in his 100th start.
Marc Marquez, set to join Ducati next season, is also looking to build momentum by winning his third consecutive race. He’s eyeing a record win at Misano, which would also close the Championship gap to the top two.
Enea Bastianini, with a 100% podium record at Misano, is another rider eager to capitalize on his home advantage and contribute to Ducati’s historic win.
The race will also see a strong field of contenders, including Franco Morbidelli, Marco Bezzecchi, Fabio Di Giannantonio, and Alex Marquez.
KTM and GASGAS riders, Brad Binder and Pedro Acosta, showed strong pace in the previous race and will be aiming to repeat their performance.
Jack Miller, on his Red Bull KTM, is looking to build on his recent success, while Fabio Quartararo, the 2021 World Champion, is determined to improve Yamaha’s current performance.
Aprilia riders, Maverick Viñales and Aleix Espargaro, seek to rebound from a disappointing San Marino GP.
In Moto2, Ai Ogura heads into the race as the new Championship leader after securing his third win of the season.
Moto3 saw Angel Piqueras claim a phenomenal debut win, and he will be aiming to go back-to-back at Misano.
With an intense schedule ahead, the Emilia-Romagna GP promises to be a thrilling and unpredictable event.
