**Chennai, September 20, 2024:** India tightened its grip on the first Test against Bangladesh, taking a commanding lead of 308 runs at the end of day two at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
India, resuming their first innings at 339/6, added a further 37 runs before being bowled out for 376. Ravichandran Ashwin, with a century (113), and Ravindra Jadeja (86) were the architects of a crucial 199-run partnership for the seventh wicket.
Bangladesh, in reply, were never able to recover from a shaky start. Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets, including a double strike in the first session, as Bangladesh found themselves reeling at 26/3.

This strong performance gives India a significant advantage heading into the third day of the test match. Bangladesh will need a remarkable turnaround to avoid a heavy defeat.
