**KUALA LUMPUR** – Civil servants with permanent appointments have until December 1, 2024, to choose between the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) or the Malaysian Remuneration System (SSM), according to the Public Service Department.

The option will only be available to those who are still serving on December 1, 2024. Civil servants who retire, resign, are terminated, or dismissed before or on that date will not be eligible to choose.

This decision was announced in Public Service Circular No. 1 of 2024. The circular clarifies that the choice of remuneration system is only applicable to those who remain in active service until the specified deadline.

The Public Service Department is expected to provide further details regarding the implementation of this policy in the coming weeks.
