**Nantucket, MA:** Indian actor Ishaan Khatter is making a splash in his second major English-language role, joining forces with Hollywood heavyweights Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber in Netflix’s hit thriller, “The Perfect Couple.” Khatter plays Shooter Dival, the best man and an outsider to the wealthy social circle in the series, bringing a fresh perspective to the murder mystery that’s captivating audiences worldwide.

Adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel, the show revolves around Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson), a bride about to marry into Nantucket’s elite. The glamorous wedding, orchestrated by the groom’s mother, renowned author Greer Garrison Winbury (Kidman), takes a sinister turn when a body washes ashore, turning the celebrations into a tense game of suspicion.

Khatter’s portrayal of Dival, a boarding school friend of the groom, Benji, adds complexity to the web of relationships. Described as an “animal that crawls his own path,” Dival’s mysterious character intrigued Khatter. “I enjoyed the arc very much,” Khatter told Variety. “It was a new kind of character for me. He’s walking a very thin line of an outsider-insider position.”

Khatter, known for his acclaimed roles in Bollywood films and the BBC/Netflix series “A Suitable Boy,” embraced the challenge of playing a character originally written as white in the source material. He praised Netflix and the production team for their commitment to colorblind casting, stating, “I believe they decided to go agnostic of ethnicity when they were casting it… Bravo to them for taking that decision in the true sense.”

The shoot posed physical challenges for Khatter, who dealt with a hip injury while adjusting to a new cultural environment. He, however, found support in the cast and crew, including memorable excursions with his fellow actors. Khatter also opted for a standard American accent for Dival, calling it “a new kind of muscle” for him.

One unexpected highlight was a surprise dance sequence introduced by director Susanne Bier. “It was a bit of a nightmare for all of the actors,” Khatter recalled, “but it ended up being a great way to wrap the show.”

Khatter’s next project is another Netflix series, “The Royals,” where he plays the charming prince opposite Bhumi Pednekar. With his breakout role in “The Perfect Couple,” Ishaan Khatter continues to solidify his presence in the global film scene, captivating audiences with his talent and versatility.
