**SEATTLE** – The Seattle Kraken have locked up one of their key players, signing veteran defenseman Adam Larsson to a four-year contract extension. The deal, worth an average of $5.25 million per season, keeps Larsson in Seattle through the 2028-29 season.
Larsson, 31, has been a stalwart on the Kraken’s blue line since their inaugural season in 2021. The Swedish defender has appeared in almost every game, forming a formidable pairing with Vince Dunn and consistently shutting down top opposing forwards. He enjoyed his most productive season in 2022-23, setting a career-high with 33 points, including eight goals.
Larsson’s leadership has also been vital, serving as an assistant captain for the past two seasons. With new head coach Dan Bylsma looking to implement a new system, Larsson could be in line for the captaincy.
“We are thrilled to extend Adam’s commitment to the Kraken,” said [Kraken General Manager’s name, if available]. “Adam is a true professional and a leader on and off the ice. His contributions have been vital to our team’s success, and we know he will continue to be a key piece for years to come.”
The Kraken acquired Larsson from the Edmonton Oilers in the 2021 expansion draft. He previously spent five seasons with the Oilers and five with the New Jersey Devils.
