Triumph Unveils Tracker 400, Poised to Challenge Royal Enfield’s Dominance
UK – British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph has officially revealed the Tracker 400, a flat-tracker inspired model aimed at shaking up the mid-size motorcycle market, potentially challenging Royal Enfield’s long-held position.
The Tracker 400, currently unveiled in the UK, blends elements from Triumph’s existing lineup. It borrows the Speed 400’s platform but incorporates the engine tuning of the Thruxton 400 for enhanced performance. Design highlights include a sculpted fuel tank, a small front visor, knobby dual-purpose tires, and bold decals, creating a sporty aesthetic. The rear section echoes the Thruxton 400, while the exhaust is borrowed from Scrambler 400X, solidifying its flat-tracker persona.
Triumph has prioritized function, equipping the Tracker 400 with 43mm USD forks, adjustable suspension, and repositioned footpegs and handlebars for improved control and rider posture. It also features switchable ABS, traction control, and Pirelli dual-purpose tires. The motorcycle weighs in at a manageable 173kg.
Power comes from a 398cc engine producing 41.42 bhp and 37.5 Nm of torque.
Whether Triumph intends to bring the Tracker 400 to India remains unconfirmed. However, speculation is rising that Triumph might be developing a 350cc engine to take advantage of the GST 2.0 reforms, making the bike more competitive in the price-sensitive Indian market. For now, the Tracker 400 is available in the UK in Aluminium Silver, Racing Yellow, and Phantom Black.
If the Tracker 400 makes its way to India, it will likely rival the upcoming Royal Enfield Guerilla 450.
