Porto, Portugal – FC Porto defeated Estrela da Amadora 3-1 in a match filled with substitutions, stoppages, and controversial moments at the Estádio do Dragão on Monday night.
Samu opened the scoring for Porto with a penalty in the 17th minute after Alberto was fouled in the box. The goal followed an earlier disallowed goal by Samu due to offside.
However, Estrela da Amadora fought back, with Abraham Marcus heading in an equalizer to silence the home crowd. Porto responded later in the second half, as Francisco Moura found the net amidst a scramble in the Estrela da Amadora box.
Samu secured the victory late in the game with his second goal of the match.
The game was characterized by several stoppages due to players going down injured. Both teams made multiple substitutions throughout the match, including Sidny Lopes Cabral replaced by Jorge Meireles for Estrela da Amadora and Alan Varela swapped for Pablo Rosario for Porto.
The referee handed out yellow cards to Abraham Marcus and Renan Ribeiro for dissent, as well as Jan Bednarek, who is now suspended for Porto’s next away game.
FC Porto’s coach Francesco Farioli will be pleased with the victory, which keeps his side in contention for the league title after other title contenders Sporting and Benfica secured comfortable wins over the weekend.
