Mon Dec 15 21:50:00 UTC 2025: ## No. 8 Dartmouth Suffers First Loss, Heads into Holiday Break at 11-1

DURHAM, N.H. – The No. 8/7 Dartmouth Big Green men’s hockey team suffered its first defeat of the 2025-26 season on Sunday night, falling 3-2 in overtime to the University of New Hampshire Wildcats. The loss snaps Dartmouth’s impressive 11-game winning streak to open the season.

UNH drew first blood, scoring at 6:18 in the first period, marking the first time this season Dartmouth has trailed after the opening frame. Dartmouth responded in the second period, with Nathan Morin burying a loose puck after a flurry in front of the net, assisted by Tim Busconi and Nikita Nikora. The Wildcats quickly regained the lead, carrying a 2-1 advantage into the third period.

With just two minutes remaining in regulation, Ryan Schelling scored on a rebound off a shot from Andrew Clarke, with Brock Cummings also earning an assist, forcing overtime. However, UNH capitalized 2:29 into the extra period, securing the victory.

Despite the loss, goaltender Emmett Croteau had a strong performance for the Big Green, stopping 31 shots, including 11 in the third period. Croteau boasts an impressive .953 save percentage and a 1.16 goals-against average this season.

Dartmouth heads into the holiday break with an impressive 11-1-0 record, having outscored their opponents 52-16. The Big Green will return to action on December 27th and 28th for the 36th annual Ledyard Classic, facing Arizona State. The two-game series begins on Saturday, December 27th at 5 PM.
