Sat Dec 13 20:30:00 UTC 2025: Islanders Legend Pat LaFontaine to Enter Team Hall of Fame; Former Teammates Reflect on Illustrious Career

UNIONDALE, NY – New York Islanders legend Pat LaFontaine is set to be inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame, joining fellow Isles greats Bryan Trottier and Patrick Flatley. In exclusive interviews with NewYorkIslanders.com, Trottier and Flatley reminisced about their time with LaFontaine, highlighting his exceptional speed, dedication, and character.

Flatley, who was a rookie alongside LaFontaine in 1983-84, recalled LaFontaine’s electrifying speed, stating, “He could fly.” He recounted instances where LaFontaine would score goals before Flatley even reached the offensive zone.

Trottier, who mentored LaFontaine early in his career, praised his hunger to learn and his attention to detail. He also shared a story about intense offseason workouts, noting LaFontaine’s remarkable commitment and work ethic.

Both Trottier and Flatley vividly remember LaFontaine’s iconic Easter Epic goal in the 1987 playoffs, a quadruple-overtime winner against the Washington Capitals.

Beyond his on-ice achievements, Trottier and Flatley emphasized LaFontaine’s character and family values. “Love the kid,” Trottier said, “he’s just a great human being, let alone, a super hockey player.”

The induction ceremony will take place this Saturday, solidifying LaFontaine’s place among the Islanders’ all-time greats.
