Telangana Waqf Board Seeks Extension for UMEED Portal Registration Amid Technical Issues

Hyderabad, December 7, 2025 – The Telangana State Waqf Board (TGWB) is seeking an extension from the Waqf Tribunal to complete the registration of waqf institutions on the UMEED portal. According to TGWB Chairman Syed Azmatullah Husseini, over 33,500 gazette-notified waqf institutions have been registered by the December 6th deadline. However, the process was plagued by delays and technical difficulties with the portal.

Mr. Husseini noted that despite the challenges, the board’s staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to meet the deadline, aided by the cooperation of Muslim religious organizations, mutawallis, and managing committees of waqf institutions.

The TGWB has filed a suit in the Waqf Tribunal under the new Waqf Law, citing the delays and portal glitches as justification for the extension. The board hopes that the extension will allow them to finish the verification and approval of the remaining pending registrations. So far, 10,000 waqf institutions have been verified, with 4,000 approved.
