Harbhajan Singh Backs Kohli and Rohit for 2027 World Cup, Criticizes Decision-Makers

Dubai: Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has voiced his support for veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to continue playing until the 2027 ODI World Cup, despite speculation about their future. Speaking at the DP World ILT20 Season 4, Harbhajan expressed his disappointment that individuals with limited achievements are influencing the careers of such legends.

While head coach Gautam Gambhir and chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar have remained ambiguous, Kohli and Sharma have hinted at their determination to compete for their spots. Harbhajan praised their ongoing form, highlighting Kohli’s recent centuries and Sharma’s impressive scores, emphasizing they are setting an example for the younger generation.

In addition to backing the senior players, Harbhajan raised concerns about the quality of pitches in India, citing the team’s recent struggles in home Test matches. He believes the excessive focus on bowler-friendly pitches is detrimental to batsmen and reduces the longevity of Test matches. He advocated for better tracks to promote patience and skill development among players.

Harbhajan also commended the DP World ILT20 for expanding cricket’s reach in the region, offering opportunities for players from neighboring countries to compete alongside international stars.
