Iowa Hawkeyes’ Stuelke and Deal Named to Wooden Award Watch List
Iowa City, IA – Riding high on a 4-0 start to the 2025-26 season, the No. 20 Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team sees two of its own recognized as potential stars. Senior forward Hannah Stuelke and freshman guard Addie Deal have been named to the prestigious Wooden Award Top 50 Watch List, announced Tuesday by the Los Angeles Athletic Club.
Stuelke, a Cedar Rapids native, is already garnering national attention, having previously been named to the preseason Naismith Trophy, Katrina McClain, and Ann Meyers Drysdale Award watch lists. The 6-foot-2 standout is currently averaging 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, boasting an impressive 63.6% shooting percentage.
Deal, a true freshman hailing from Irvine, California, is making her mark early. The 6-foot guard is contributing 6.0 points, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 rebounds per game.
Stuelke and Deal join eight other Big Ten representatives on the list, including players from Michigan, Ohio State, USC, and UCLA, showcasing the conference’s talent depth.
The Wooden Award Watch List, compiled through a preseason poll of national college basketball experts, identifies 50 student-athletes considered frontrunners for the sport’s most prestigious honors, including the Wooden Award All-American Team and the Wooden Award Most Outstanding Player.
The Wooden Award honorees will be recognized at the Los Angeles Athletic Club on April 10, 2026.
The Hawkeyes are set to face their next challenge on Thursday, Nov. 20, when they take on No. 10 Baylor in the WBCA Showcase in Orlando, Fla. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
