PMK to Stage State-Wide Protests Demanding Caste Census and Vanniyar Reservation

Ranipet, November 17, 2025 – Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss announced yesterday that the party will organize demonstrations across Tamil Nadu on December 12th, advocating for a comprehensive caste census and the immediate implementation of the 10.5% internal reservation for the Vanniyar community within the Most Backward Classes (MBC) category.

Speaking at a party meeting in Nemili, Ranipet district, Ramadoss underscored the importance of a caste census, arguing that it would allow for a more accurate assessment of the socio-economic progress of all 234 castes in Tamil Nadu, leading to more effective and targeted welfare programs. “The fight for caste census is not for PMK alone but for all castes. The caste census will benefit all communities in the State,” he said.

Looking ahead to the 2026 assembly polls, Ramadoss assured party members that alliance decisions would be finalized in December. He urged cadres to focus on strengthening the party’s base by attracting more voters, especially women and youth. He also advised voters, particularly in rural areas, to prioritize the merit of candidates and resist the temptation of vote-buying. “They should resist taking cash to cast their votes. It will help to provide good governance by the elected representatives,” Ramadoss stated.

The planned demonstrations highlight the PMK’s commitment to social justice and its focus on key issues affecting various communities in Tamil Nadu as the state prepares for future elections.
