Mon Nov 17 00:10:00 UTC 2025: BYU Dominates TCU in 44-13 Victory, Freshman QB Bachmeier Shines

PROVO, Utah – No. 12 BYU delivered a resounding 44-13 victory over TCU Saturday night, fueled by a stellar performance from freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier. Bachmeier threw for 296 yards and a touchdown while adding 59 rushing yards and another score on the ground. With that, he achieved his seventh game this season with both a passing and rushing TD, making him the first BYU player since 1966 to hit the mark.

BYU’s offense was firing on all cylinders from the opening drive, scoring on their first seven possessions. Parker Kingston added 80 yards on five receptions, while LJ Martin led the ground attack with 88 yards and a touchdown.

“Everyone contributed today—the pass game, the run game,” tight end Carsen Ryan said. “We were firing on all cylinders, so it was a good bounce back for us.”

TCU struggled to find any rhythm, with quarterback Josh Hoover throwing for a season-low 183 yards and two interceptions. The Horned Frogs converted only 1 of 10 third-down attempts. BYU’s defense capitalized on TCU’s mistakes, with Faletau Satuala recording an interception to set up a touchdown and Tanner Wall returning another for 68 yards and a score.

“They had a great plan, they tried to take away the things we did best, they put us in a hole,” Hoover said.

BYU’s efficient performance, marked by minimal penalties and strong red-zone execution, helped them control the game and snap a five-game losing streak against TCU.

BYU coach Kalani Sitake praised his team’s clean play, saying, “We can do some really good things when everybody plays clean football.”

TCU coach Sonny Dykes lamented his team’s slow start, stating, “Our guys were excited to play, I can promise you. We just didn’t get off to a great start, BYU took the ball down and scored quickly on us and made us get on our heels pretty quickly.”
