TCU Men’s Basketball Season Kicks Off with Reworked Roster, Tournament Aspirations
Fort Worth, TX – The TCU Horned Frogs men’s basketball team begins its 2025-2026 season Monday night, marking the tenth year under head coach Jamie Dixon. After a disappointing 16-16 record last season that saw them miss the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2024, the Frogs are looking to rebound with a re-tooled backcourt and a promising young core.
Last season’s offensive struggles are a key area of focus for improvement. TCU ranked among the nation’s least efficient scoring teams, struggling with assist-to-turnover ratio, scoring offense, and effective field goal percentage.
Coach Dixon and his staff addressed these issues in the offseason, bringing in several players expected to make an immediate impact on the offensive end. Crucially, unlike last year, the team returns a solid foundation of young talent including David Punch, Jace Posey, Micah Robinson, and Malick Diallo who all garnered significant playing time as freshman. Punch is poised for a breakout year after a strong offseason.
The team also added key transfers to bolster the roster. Iowa transfer Brock Harding, known for his exceptional playmaking and shooting ability, is expected to start at point guard. Providence transfer Jayden Pierre will start at shooting guard and brings a solid shooting track record and defensive prowess. Oregon State transfer Liutauras Lelevicius (LT) will start at the three, adding size and shooting to the wing position. Utah Valley transfer Tanner Toolson has also impressed, demonstrating his scoring ability and willingness to rebound. JUCO transfer Xavier Edmonds and Florida International transfer Vianney Salatchoum are set to provide depth in the frontcourt. Additionally, highly-rated freshman Kayden “Bugg” Edwards is expected to make an immediate impact with his scoring ability and defensive mindset.
With a blend of returning talent and impactful newcomers, TCU hopes to improve its offensive efficiency and secure a spot in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
