Indian-Origin Businessman Dies After Assault in Edmonton
Ottawa, October 31, 2025 – A 55-year-old Indian-origin businessman, Arvi Singh Sagoo, has died in Edmonton, Canada, following an assault that occurred after he confronted a stranger urinating on his car. The incident took place on October 19th near 109 Street and 100 Avenue, according to the Edmonton Police Service.
Sagoo was walking with his girlfriend after visiting a restaurant when they noticed 40 year old Kyle Papin urinating on their vehicle. An altercation ensued, during which the man punched Sagoo in the head, causing him to fall unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He succumbed to his injuries five days later, on October 24th.
Kyle Papin has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault. The police stated that the two men were not known to each other. Additional charges related to Sagoo’s death are pending the ongoing investigation by the Edmonton Police Service Homicide Unit. Papin is scheduled to appear in court on November 4th.
