Mon Oct 27 23:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Rajasthan Reels Under Heavy Rainfall Triggered by Cyclones
Jaipur, Rajasthan – Multiple districts in Rajasthan experienced heavy rainfall on Monday, triggered by the effects of cyclones in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. The downpour led to a significant drop in daytime temperatures and disruptions across the state.
The hardest hit area was Bundi’s Nainwa, which recorded nearly 4 inches (93mm) of rainfall. Other districts, including Udaipur, Pratapgarh, Kota, and Baran, saw rainfall ranging from 1 to 3 inches. In Kota’s Khatoli region, a significant 69mm of rain was recorded.
The deluge forced authorities in Udaipur to open two gates of the Udaysagar Dam by 6 inches each, due to rising water levels in the catchment area. In Khewra and surrounding areas, standing crops in fields suffered damage as a result of the excessive rainfall.
The widespread cloud cover associated with the weather system caused a sharp decline in daytime temperatures, with drops of up to 8 degrees Celsius reported in several districts. The unusual weather conditions even resulted in near-identical day and night temperatures in Kota, with the daytime high reaching 21.9 degrees Celsius and the nighttime low at 21.6 degrees Celsius.
Heavy to moderate rainfall was reported across Jaipur, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, and Bharatpur divisions over the past 24 hours. Besides Nainwa, other areas in Bundi district experienced substantial rainfall, including Bundi city (63mm), Raithal (39mm), and Hindoli (24mm). Significant rainfall was also reported in various regions of Udaipur, Baran, and Pratapgarh districts.
Other districts experiencing rainfall include Dungarpur, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Jaipur, Ajmer, Sawai Madhopur, Dausa, Banswara, and Jhalawar.
The weather system’s impact on temperature was significant, with maximum daytime temperatures in Kota, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Alwar, Bhilwara, Ajmer, Karauli, and Dausa plummeting by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius compared to October 26th. The unseasonal weather has prompted advisories for farmers and residents to take necessary precautions.
