Tue Oct 14 06:00:00 UTC 2025: **Raducanu Confirmed to Play Ningbo Open After Wuhan Heat Scare**

**Ningbo, China – October 13, 2025** – Emma Raducanu is set to compete in this week’s Ningbo Open, just days after retiring from the Wuhan Open due to extreme heat conditions. The 22-year-old British player sparked concern when she was forced to withdraw from her first-round match against Ann Li after suffering from dizziness and having her blood pressure checked on court.

Raducanu reassured fans with a message on social media stating she was “feeling better now” after undergoing medical check-ups in Wuhan. Temperatures in Wuhan soared to 36 degrees Celsius with humidity near 60 percent, presenting challenging conditions for players.

Despite the difficult experience, Raducanu is continuing her season in China at the WTA 500 event in Ningbo. A resurgence in form has propelled her to 29th in the WTA rankings, securing a seed at the upcoming Australian Open.

Raducanu faces Lin Zhu in the first round on Tuesday, with a potential second-round clash against Mirra Andreeva. The draw also includes top players like Ekaterina Alexandrova and Liudmila Samsonova, as well as 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.

The Shanghai Masters also saw several players struggle with the heat, including Jannik Sinner, Casper Ruud, and Novak Djokovic. Djokovic described the conditions as “brutal,” particularly for players competing during the day.

Rising star Terence Atmane retired after just eight games, citing severe physical distress due to the heat. Holger Rune questioned the lack of heat regulations from the ATP.

The ATP has responded with a statement, confirming that additional measures and an official heat policy are currently under review. Player safety remains a top priority for the ATP.
