**Thousands of Childless Couples Flock to Radhakund for Ahoi Ashtami Dip, Seeking Divine Blessing**
**Radhakund, Mathura -** On the auspicious occasion of Ahoi Ashtami, thousands of childless couples from across India converged at the holy Radhakund in Mathura, seeking a divine blessing for offspring. The devotees started gathering late Monday evening, eagerly awaiting the midnight hour to take a dip in the sacred waters.
Radhakund, situated on the Govardhan Parikrama route, holds immense significance in Hindu mythology. Legend has it that Lord Krishna created this kund (pond) for Radha Rani using his flute. It is believed that on Ahoi Ashtami, Lord Krishna cleansed himself of the sin of killing a cow by summoning all the sacred rivers to fill the kund. Radha Rani then blessed the pond, promising that any childless couple who bathed together in its waters at midnight on Ahoi Ashtami would be blessed with children.
The largest gathering was observed at the Sangam Ghat, the confluence of Radhakund and Shyam Kund. Couples like Rajshri Chauhan from Jaipur, who has been married for five years, arrived with hopes of fulfilling their desire for a child. “We have heard about this place from our elders,” said Chauhan. Similarly, Tina from Chandigarh described the experience as blissful, while Reeta from Madhya Pradesh came after hearing about Radhakund from an acquaintance.
Anticipating the large crowds, authorities implemented stringent security measures. DIG Shailesh Pandey, Commissioner Shailendra Kumar Singh, DM Chandra Prakash Singh, and SSP Shlok Kumar personally oversaw the arrangements. Police personnel were stationed around the kund, and divers were on standby to prevent any untoward incidents. To manage the crowd, devotees were limited to a five-minute dip. The Ahoi Ashtami festival at Radhakund not only highlights the enduring faith of devotees but also underscores the importance of this sacred site in Hindu traditions.
