**MYSURU, October 3, 2025 (IST)** – The iconic Dasara elephants of Mysuru are once again the star attraction, thanks to an overnight artistic endeavor that transformed them into magnificent, walking canvases. A team of nine artists, spearheaded by Nagalingappa Badiger, a drawing teacher from Periyapatna, spent hours meticulously painting the 14 jumbos in preparation for the grand Jamboo Savari procession held yesterday.

Working from 10:00 PM on Wednesday until 12:30 PM on Thursday, the team used vibrant water colours to create eye-catching designs on the trunks, legs, and heads of the majestic creatures. The intricate artwork was completed just in time for the elephants to begin their procession.

“It is an honour for me and my team to beautify Dasara jumbos,” said Mr. Badiger, who has been contributing his artistic talents to the festival for the past 21 years. “It takes time to paint each elephant as the work has to be elegant and precise as lakhs of people watch them with awe.”

With the assistance of the mahouts and kavadis, the artists completed their task with precision, drawing the attention of onlookers who gathered near the elephant camp on the palace premises to witness the transformation firsthand.
