**Texas Set to Execute Blaine Milam for 2008 Murder of Toddler**
**AUSTIN, TX –** The state of Texas is scheduled to execute Blaine Keith Milam, 35, on Thursday, September 2025 by lethal injection for the brutal 2008 murder of 13-month-old Amora Bain Carson, his fiancée’s daughter. Milam’s execution date comes after two previous stays in 2019 and 2021.
On December 2, 2008, Milam, then 18, called 911 from his trailer home near Tatum, TX, claiming to have found Amora deceased. First responders discovered the child had suffered horrific injuries, including bite marks, skull and rib fractures, internal bleeding, a broken arm and leg, and signs of strangulation. An autopsy revealed the infant had also been sexually assaulted, with all injuries inflicted while she was still alive.
Forensic pathologist Dr. Keith Pinckard, who served as medical examiner for the case, testified at Milam’s 2010 capital murder trial that he had “never seen anything like it.” Lt. Reynold Humber of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office described it as “the worse thing I’ve seen in 30 years of law enforcement.”
Initially, Milam and Amora’s mother, Jesseca Carson, claimed they had left Amora alone for an hour while they visited a pawn shop. Later, in separate interviews, both admitted to believing Amora was possessed by demons and that they attempted to perform an exorcism. Evidence presented at Carson’s 2011 trial revealed Milam had tortured the child for 30 hours.
A Montgomery County jury found Milam guilty of capital murder in 2010, sentencing him to death. Carson was also found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
In a 2013 documentary, Milam maintained his innocence, stating, “I didn’t kill my little girl.”
Milam’s attorneys have unsuccessfully challenged the conviction, citing unreliable bite mark evidence, contested DNA evidence, and claiming intellectual disability rendering him ineligible for capital punishment. The U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals has rejected these arguments.
Milam is currently scheduled to be executed on Thursday, September 2025.
