Fri Jun 20 21:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Reality Star Nihal Candan’s Life in Danger After Prison Release

**Istanbul, Turkey** – Nihal Candan, known for her appearances on reality television, is in critical condition after being released from prison and losing a drastic amount of weight. The 24-year-old, who was arrested in November 2023 on charges of money laundering, was reportedly down to just 23 kilograms (approximately 50 pounds) and has been admitted to intensive care.

“Her condition is very serious. Her life is still at risk. She doesn’t want to live,” stated her father, Hakan Candan, in an interview. He expressed deep concern over his daughter’s deteriorating health and mental state, attributing it to the trauma of her experiences, including her arrest and the ongoing legal proceedings. “Everything came crashing down on her,” he added.

Candan, along with her sister Alisya Bahar Candan, was initially arrested as part of an investigation led by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office into alleged “money laundering of crime revenues.” Gülnihal Çiçek (Nihal Candan) was released on April 26, 2024, while her sister Bahar Candan was later released on September 20, 2024, along with five other defendants.

The indictment against the Candan sisters and 19 other defendants alleges they were part of an organized crime ring led by Onur Apaydın and İlker Oflu, accused of profiting from fraud and usury. Bahar Candan is accused of playing a more active role in the organization.

Bahar Candan faces a potential sentence of 14 to 44 years in prison for “membership in a criminal organization” and “fraud by introducing oneself as a public official or an employee of a bank, insurance, or credit institution.” Her sister Gülnihal faces eight to 24 years for the same charges.

The investigation into the Candan sisters originated from a previous probe into “qualified fraud.” The crime ring allegedly defrauded victims by falsely promising to sell them vehicles obtained cheaply through government auctions, amassing approximately 10 million lira from 13 victims.

Nihal Candan’s critical condition has sparked widespread concern and renewed attention to the case.
