**Former NBA Player Scot Pollard Meets Family of Heart Donor, Casey Angell, in Emotional Encounter**

**INDIANAPOLIS, IN** – Former NBA player and “Survivor” contestant Scot Pollard, 50, met the family of his heart donor, Casey Angell, in a deeply emotional encounter this year. The meeting took place over a year after Pollard received a life-saving heart transplant in February 2024 to address a genetic condition.

Pollard, who played 11 seasons in the NBA, including winning a championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008, decided to reach out to the donor’s family months after his surgery. He penned a heartfelt letter expressing his gratitude and the hope to meet them in person.

Months after sending the letter, Pollard received an email from Casey Angell’s wife, Pamela, expressing her family’s gratitude for Pollard caring for Casey’s heart. In the letter, Pamela wrote of her late husband’s organ donation, “You’re losing your best friend, but somebody else is gaining your best friend, in a way”.

On March 17, 2025, Pollard met with Pamela, her 12-year-old son William, and Angell’s sister, Megan. The group shared hugs and memories of Casey, with William sharing stories of his father. Each family member listened to Angell’s heartbeat through Pollard’s chest using a stethoscope.

“There was a connection there that I felt,” Pollard said of the meeting. Megan, Angell’s sister, added, “It’s an honor to let everyone know how proud we are of him, and who he was, and what a good man he was. We miss him every day, but Scot helps with that.”

Pollard now aims to continue living a full life in honor of Angell’s gift and raise awareness about organ donation. Pollard’s journey is documented in ESPN’s new documentary, “Heart of Pearl.”
