**”Sitaare Zameen Par” Faced CBFC Hurdles Before Release; Initially Asked for Modi Quote and Other Changes**
Mumbai – Aamir Khan’s upcoming film, “Sitaare Zameen Par,” faced initial roadblocks with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) before being cleared for release. While reports initially suggested the film passed without cuts, sources now reveal the CBFC’s Examining Committee initially requested several additions and modifications.
According to Bollywood Hungama, Aamir Khan Productions initially resisted the suggested changes. These included adding a quote by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the opening disclaimer, replacing the term ‘Michael Jackson’ with ‘Lovebirds’, ‘Business Woman’ with ‘Business Person’, and removing a visual containing the word ‘kamal’.
Dissatisfied with the Examining Committee’s suggestions, the producers appealed to the Revising Committee, headed by Waman Kendre. The film was eventually granted a U/A 13+ certificate after the changes were made.
“Sitaare Zameen Par,” directed by RS Prasanna and starring Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh, is set to release on Friday, June 20. The film is considered a spiritual sequel to the critically acclaimed “Taare Zameen Par.”
The film has already garnered significant interest, with advance bookings reportedly exceeding Rs 1.03 crore and over 39,000 tickets sold for the opening day across India. The makers have also adopted a novel release strategy, including lower ticket prices and no shows before 9 AM.
