**VISAKHAPATNAM – June 14, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Scheduled Tribes (ST Commission) has taken swift action to address the hardships faced by tribal communities in the state, following a report published in The Hindu newspaper.

On Friday, ST Commission Chairman D. Sankar Rao wrote to Alluri Sitharama Raju district Collector A.S. Dinesh Kumar, instructing him to expedite the preparation of road construction estimates for Solabongu village in Pinakota panchayat, Anantagiri mandal. This move comes in response to the lack of road access, hindering the community’s development.

The Commission also addressed a separate issue highlighted in The Hindu: tribal children crossing the Raiwada reservoir by boat to attend school. Chairman Rao directed Collector Dinesh Kumar to address this dangerous situation impacting students attending Tamarabba MPP Elementary School in Devarapalli mandal, Anakapalli district. The Collector has instructed the Executive Engineer, Tribal Welfare, to submit road construction proposals.

Furthermore, the ST Commission has requested a report from the Commissioner of Civil Supplies regarding the difficulties faced by tribal people from Buriga and China Konela, who are forced to carry rations for 16 kilometers on foot following the termination of door-to-door ration delivery.

Local tribal communities have expressed their gratitude to the ST Commission for their prompt response and to The Hindu for bringing their plight to public attention. The ST Commission’s actions demonstrate a commitment to addressing the needs of marginalized communities in Andhra Pradesh.
