**Rumors of “Sinners” Sequel Debunked by Warner Bros.**
HOLLYWOOD, CA – Despite the blockbuster success and open ending of Ryan Coogler’s vampire film, “Sinners,” Warner Bros. has refuted recent rumors of a sequel in development. The speculation stemmed from a listing on Production Weekly, a publication that tracks film and television projects, which claimed a second “Sinners” movie was in the works.
However, Warner Bros. Discovery reached out to Dark Horizons to clarify the matter, stating definitively that the claim “isn’t true.”
This denial aligns with Coogler’s earlier statements about his intentions for “Sinners.” In interviews following the film’s release, the director expressed a desire to move away from franchise filmmaking. He emphasized that “Sinners” was designed as a complete and self-contained story, a “full meal” with a satisfying conclusion.
“I wanted the movie to feel like a full meal: your appetizers, starters, entrees and desserts, I wanted all of it there… I wanted it to be a holistic and finished thing. That was how I was asked all about it. That was always my intention.” Coogler said in an interview.
While a sequel could potentially be lucrative, especially considering the film’s $350 million global gross against a $90 million budget, Coogler seems content with leaving the story as is. “Sinners,” starring Michael B. Jordan in a dual role, has been lauded for its direction, cinematography, production design, music, and cast performances.
Although fans are split on whether a sequel is necessary, Warner Bros. assures audiences that, for now, “Sinners” remains a standalone cinematic experience.
