Wed May 21 08:00:00 UTC 2025: ## NEC to Leverage AI for Streamlined Nature-Related Financial Disclosures

**Tokyo, Japan** – NEC Corporation announced plans to integrate Agentic AI into its process for creating its Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) report, expected to be released later this year. This initiative is part of NEC’s “Client Zero” program, where the company utilizes its own cutting-edge technologies internally.

The company has developed Agentic AI functionalities to handle five key tasks in TNFD report creation: research, risk and opportunity identification, risk assessment, writing and review, and public relations. This move aims to improve both the efficiency and sophistication of the TNFD reporting process.

Early results have already shown positive impacts in research and public relations, with NEC reporting a 92% reduction in time spent reading specialized guidance. By automating the analysis of global disclosure examples and comparing them to its own, NEC has also improved the quality of its assessments.

Looking ahead, NEC intends to extend the application of this AI solution to other areas of sustainability disclosure, including compliance with the Sustainability Standards Board of Japan (SSBJ) and responses to rating agency surveys. This expansion will leverage the expertise gained from its TNFD efforts, participation in international rulemaking initiatives like the Nature Data Public Facility and the World Economic Forum’s Nature Positive Transitions, and experience as an early adopter in TNFD reporting.

NEC first released a TNFD report in July 2023, and followed up with a second edition reflecting the final TNFD recommendations v1.0 in June 2024. The company has also shared its advanced disclosure practices on the global stage, including at COP16.

NEC is committed to leading in information disclosure and supporting corporate transformation by leveraging the knowledge and experience accumulated through its “Client Zero” program.
