**Vidarbha Spinner Harsh Dubey Makes IPL Debut for SunRisers Hyderabad After Impressive Domestic Season**

**Lucknow, India – May 19, 2025** – Harsh Dubey, a 22-year-old left-arm spinner from Vidarbha, experienced a whirlwind of success this week, culminating in his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). Dubey was named in the starting XI for SRH’s away game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday, replacing Australian opener Travis Head, who was recovering from a COVID-19 infection.

Dubey’s inclusion comes on the heels of his selection for the India ‘A’ squad that will tour England in June. His IPL opportunity arose after SRH signed him as an injury replacement for R. Smaran, having gone unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Dubey rose to prominence during the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season, where he shattered records by claiming 69 wickets, surpassing Ashutosh Aman’s previous record of 68 wickets.

“We didn’t want to rush Travis [Head] back, so Harsh got an opportunity,” stated SRH captain Pat Cummins before the match.

Following the domestic season, Dubey was playing First Division League cricket in Chennai when the call came from SRH. His initial stint with the team was cut short when the IPL was suspended due to geopolitical tensions. However, the resumption of the league provided Dubey with his long-awaited chance.

Since debuting for Vidarbha in December 2022, Dubey has proven his skills in first-class cricket, taking 97 wickets in 18 matches at an average of 19.88.

While Dubey’s white-ball performances have yet to reach the same heights, he maintains an impressive T20 economy rate of 6.78.

Despite SRH being out of playoff contention, Dubey’s IPL debut marks a significant milestone in his career. He will now join the India ‘A’ squad led by Abhimanyu Easwaran for their tour of England, which includes two four-day matches and an intra-squad match against the senior Indian Test team.
