Mon May 19 14:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Ice Cream Recall: Over 17,800 Cartons Pulled from Shelves Over Plastic Contamination Concerns

**Washington, D.C. –** A voluntary recall of over 17,800 cartons of ice cream and frozen yogurt has been issued by Wells Enterprises, an Iowa-based company, due to the potential presence of plastic pieces within the product. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a report this week detailing the recall, which occurred on April 25, 2025.

The recall affects 22 different flavors of ice cream and frozen yogurt, all packaged in 3-gallon tubs. These tubs were distributed to 103 centers across the United States, including locations in Le Mars, Iowa; Wyoming, Michigan; Rosemont, Illinois; Houston, Texas; and Fort Worth, Texas. The affected products have “Best If Used By” dates ranging from March 2026 through October 2026.

According to the FDA, this is a Class II recall, meaning the use of the contaminated product could potentially cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. However, the agency emphasizes that the risk of serious harm is considered remote.

As of Sunday, there have been no reported injuries or adverse reactions linked to the recalled ice cream.

The FDA has posted a comprehensive list of all recalled products on its website, including recall numbers, codes, quantities, and descriptions. Consumers are urged to check their freezers for affected products.

ABC News has reached out to Wells Enterprises for comment but has yet to receive a response.

This recall follows a recent incident in which ice cream products from multiple brands were recalled due to potential listeria contamination, highlighting ongoing concerns about food safety within the frozen dessert industry.
