Mon May 12 19:10:00 UTC 2025: ## New Roma-Lido Train Station to Boost Rome’s Southern Mobility
**Rome, Italy** – The Lazio Region has announced the launch of a tender for the construction of a new train station, “Giardino di Roma,” on the Roma-Ostia Lido railway line. The station, part of a larger initiative to revitalize the often-troubled line, will be located between Vitinia and Casal Bernocchi, improving transport links for residents in Rome’s southern districts.
The project, approved by a June 2023 government decree, will include two station buildings, a pedestrian overpass connecting them, and landscaped areas with parking for bicycles and motorcycles. Access to the station will be via Via Erminio Macario.
Regional Transport and Mobility Assessor Fabrizio Ghera stated that this project, following the recent announcement of a new station at Torrino-Mezzocammino, demonstrates the Lazio Region’s commitment to improving the Roma-Lido line. He highlighted significant prior investments in track maintenance, overhead lines, and fleet overhauls—necessary steps, he said, to guarantee the line’s proper functioning and provide quality public transport for commuters traveling from Ostia to Rome.
The tender, managed by Astral – Azienda Strade Lazio S.p.A., is open and will use the economically most advantageous offer criterion.
