Mon May 12 13:29:22 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Appoints Four New RTI Commissioners to Tackle Backlog

**Hyderabad, May 12, 2025** – The Telangana government has appointed four new Information Commissioners to the State Information Commission (SIC), addressing a long-standing vacancy and a significant backlog of Right to Information (RTI) applications. The newly appointed commissioners include senior journalists Boreddy Ayodhya Reddy (currently the Chief Public Relations Officer to the Chief Minister) and P.V. Srinivasa Rao, along with Mohsina Parveen and Deshala Bhoopal.

These appointments follow the recent appointment of Chandrashekhar Reddy, an Indian Forest Service officer, as Chief Information Commissioner. A previous batch of nominations required further clarification before receiving gubernatorial approval. Following a meeting between Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Monday, the appointments were finalized and orders issued.

The new commissioners face a substantial challenge: clearing a large backlog of RTI applications accumulated due to staff shortages over the years.
