**New Delhi, May 10, 2025** – India launched a major military operation, codenamed “Operation Sindoor,” on May 7, 2025, carrying out 24 precision strikes against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation, according to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, was a response to a prior attack on Indian soil in Pahalgam.
The Indian Armed Forces targeted nine locations in a swift and decisive action. However, Pakistan retaliated by launching drone and missile attacks on Indian military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur. The Ministry of Defence reported that these attacks were swiftly neutralized. India responded in kind, matching Pakistan’s intensity and methods of attack, according to the Ministry.
