**Hyderabad, India (May 3, 2025)** – Telangana state is experiencing a dramatic surge in medical tourism, with the number of foreign patients more than doubling in the last decade. This growth, fueled by factors such as affordable prices, English-speaking staff, minimal wait times, and supportive government policies, has transformed Hyderabad into a leading destination for international patients.

Figures released today reveal a significant increase in foreign patients seeking treatment in Hyderabad, rising from 75,171 in 2014 to 155,313 in 2024. Simultaneously, over 88 million Indian patients sought care within the state last year. Patients are traveling from the U.S., U.K., Russia, Africa, and the Middle East to take advantage of the cost savings; heart surgeries, for example, cost between $5,000 and $10,000 in Hyderabad, compared to $100,000 in the U.S.

The Telangana government is leveraging the upcoming Miss World 2025 pageant to further promote Hyderabad’s medical capabilities on the global stage. Miss World contestants will participate in a special program at AIG Hospitals on May 16th, showcasing the state’s advanced and affordable medical infrastructure. With the pageant broadcast to over 150 nations, the government hopes to solidify Telangana’s position as a major player in international healthcare.

The state’s commitment to medical tourism extends beyond private hospitals. Government facilities such as Osmania General Hospital and MNJ Institute of Oncology are equipped with advanced technologies like robotic surgery and telemedicine, and many hold international accreditations.
