Fri Apr 25 11:29:56 UTC 2025: ## EPFO Streamlines PF Transfer Process, Benefits Millions

**New Delhi, April 25, 2025** – The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) announced a significant simplification of its Provident Fund (PF) account transfer process, eliminating the need for employer approval in most cases. This change, effective immediately, is expected to benefit over 125 million members and expedite the transfer of approximately ₹90,000 crore annually.

Previously, PF transfers required approvals from both the source and destination EPF offices. The new system, implemented via a revamped Form 13 software, automatically transfers funds to the member’s current account once the source office approves the transfer request. This streamlined process also allows for the accurate calculation of TDS on taxable PF interest by separating taxable and non-taxable components.

In addition, the EPFO introduced a bulk Universal Account Number (UAN) generation facility, enabling faster crediting of funds. While this feature allows for the processing of past accumulations without Aadhaar, newly generated UANs will remain frozen until Aadhaar seeding is completed, ensuring account security.

These changes aim to improve member services, reduce grievances, and further streamline claim settlements, marking a significant step towards enhancing ease of living for EPFO members.
